Controller

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller directs the financial accounting affairs of the Company and prepares financial analysis of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The controller is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices and the maintenance of its fiscal records.

CORE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Not all inclusive):
  • The Controller will be fully responsible and held accountable to generate accurate, timely and complete financial information each month in conformity with GAAP, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Changes if Financial Position, Budget to Actual Variance Analysis, Projected Cash Flows, Key Ratios Analysis, Key Strategic Indicators Analysis, operational dashboard reporting, and detailed analysis of accounts receivable and accounts payable, etc.
  • Ensure accurate and timely accounting, analysis and reporting of the company’s multiple revenue streams in conformity with established software revenue recognition policies (i.e. SOP 97-2, etc.)
  • Proactive analysis of the monthly financial statements for the business
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual compliance and covenant reporting for institutional investors and banks
  • Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system, including the integration of SalesForce.com (sales force automation software)
  • Establish, implement, and monitor financial controls
  • Prepare the annual financial statements for the business, including working paper support and corporate tax returns, for review by the Company’s external independent auditors
  • Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances
  • Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payrolls, and other applicable tax liabilities, including GST
  • Manage stock option administration accounting and reporting
  • Responsible for the administration and reconciliation of the Company’s fixed assets
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Expert in software revenue recognition (SOP 97-2, etc.)
  • Experience working in a high volume, online, transaction environment
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and the preparation of GAAP financial statements
  • Expert knowledge of software cost accounting & new product cost analysis
  • Expert in internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley experience helpful but not required)
  • Advanced knowledge of financial modeling techniques
  • Excellent cash management skills
  • ERP systems implementation experience a must
  • Player / Coach mentality
  • Experience in start-up and or early stage growth organizations required
  • Strong Leadership and Management Skills
  • Simultaneously manage multiple priorities / sense of urgency
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Min. BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
  • MBA and or CPA certification desired, but not required
  • 8+ years of experience in financial management
  • Minimum of 8 years Director of Accounting / Controller experience, with supervisory experience in Software as a Service (SaaS) or other software related environment
  • Must have extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (2007)
  • FRx Financial Reporting and/or Crystal Reports mandatory
